Welcome to A Paper Pumpkin Thing Blog Hop! A group of Stampin’ Up! demonstrators have gathered together to provide alternate project ideas featuring the Paper Pumpkin kits. Continue reading to see the projects I made for the hop, find links to the blogs of the other bloggers, and learn more about the next kit (January 10th is the last day to subscribe – details at the end of this post).
Today’s hop features the December 2023 Paper Pumpkin Kit – All the Best. This kit came with materials to make 9 cards. I used elements from the kit to make a couple of alternate cards.
Alternate Project Idea
Blended Background Card
To make this card, I blended a few colors onto the large gold foiled layer from the kit. I started by adding some color with a Blending Brush and Daffodil Delight ink along the top third. Then, I added Crushed Curry ink in the middle section. Finally, I blended some Pumpkin Pie in the bottom third. After I had the colors blended to my liking, I took a clean tissue and wiped it over the gold-foiled areas.
I added this piece to a Basic Black card base using Dimensionals. Then I added the large dandelion element and the stamped sentiment piece to the card (in a similar fashion as the intended kit card).
For the inside, I stamped a couple of the tiny images in two opposite corners of a 5-1/4″ x 4″ piece of White Cardstock with Crushed Curry ink. Then, I added this stamped layer to the inside.
Patterned Strips Card
For this card, I trimmed one of the kit card bases (the blue and white gradient one) to 5-1/4″ tall (I chose to cut off a little at the darker blue end) and then cut a few 1/2″ strips from one side (keep the strips in order). I also cut a 5-1/4″ x 2-1/4″ piece of White Cardstock.
I stamped two of the dandelion images in the bottom half of the White piece. I used Crushed Curry ink stamped off to give a softer look.
After stamping the White layer, I glued it to a Basic Black card base on the right side. Then I took the three patterned strips and glued down the left one to the left side of the card front. Next, I placed the other two strips (without glue) in between the first strip and the White cardstock to determine the proper spacing. Then I glued each of those strips down.
I stamped the sentiment on a piece of White Cardstock and punched it out with the Lasting Labels Punch. Then I added one of the medium dandelion pieces to the back of the punched piece before sticking it to the bottom right area of the card with Dimensionals. To finish it off, I added some of the kit embellishments.
For the inside, I stamped a couple of the tiny images in the bottom corner of a 5-1/4″ x 4″ piece of White Cardstock with Crushed Curry ink (stamped off). Then, I added this stamped layer to the inside.
