Welcome to A Paper Pumpkin Thing Blog Hop! A group of Stampin’ Up! demonstrators have gathered together to provide alternate project ideas featuring the Paper Pumpkin kits. Continue reading to see the projects I made for the hop, find links to the blogs of the other blogs, and learn more about the next kit (August 10th is the last day to subscribe – details at the end of this post).

Today’s hop features the July 2023 Paper Pumpkin Kit – Fun in the Sun. This kit came with materials to make 9 fun fold cards, 3 each of 3 designs. I used the stamp set to do an embossed resist technique.

Alternate Project Ideas
Emboss Resist Version 1
To make this first card, I stamped the starfish image all over a 5″ x 3-3/4″ piece of White cardstock with VersaMark Ink. Next, I poured Clear Embossing Powder over the stamped areas. After tapping the excess powder off, I heat-embossed the images. Then I used Daffodil Delight and Melon Mambo ink to blend the color over the piece with the Blending Brushes. Finally, I took a tissue to wipe any color off the embossed areas.
To assemble the card, I added this embossed layer to an Azure Afternoon card base. Next, I stamped the sun with Daffodil Delight ink and the sentiment with Melon Mambo ink on a 2-7/8″ x 2-3/8″ piece of White cardstock. Then I adhered this piece to a 3″ x 2-1/2″ piece of Azure Afternoon cardstock and added it to the card using Dimensionals.
For the inside, I stamped a sun at the top of a 5″ x 3-3/4″ piece of White cardstock. Then, I added this piece to the inside.

Emboss Resist Version 2
To make the second card, I inked up the starfish image with VersaMark ink and then (without cleaning it) inked it in Melon Mambo ink. I stamped it towards the bottom of a 5″ x 3-3/4″ piece of White cardstock. Then I cleaned the stamp so that I could repeat that process two more times (and not get pink ink on the VersaMark pad). Next, I poured Clear Embossing Powder over the stamped areas. After tapping the excess powder off, I heat-embossed the images. Then I used Blending Brushes to add some Crumb Cake ink on the bottom portion of the piece to resemble sand and Azure Afternoon ink on the top/middle to resemble water meeting the sand. Finally, I took a tissue to wipe any color off the embossed areas.
To assemble the card, I added this embossed layer to a Melon Mambo card base. Next, I stamped the sentiment with Melon Mambo ink on a piece of White cardstock and punched it out with the Cloud Punch. Then I added the sentiment piece to the top area and the beach chair to the bottom area using Dimensionals.
For the inside, I stamped a starfish at the bottom of a 5″ x 3-3/4″ piece of White cardstock. Then, I added this piece to the inside.
