A Paper Pumpkin Thing Blog Hop – June 2023

Jul 7, 2023 | Paper Pumpkin

Welcome to A Paper Pumpkin Thing Blog Hop!  A group of Stampin’ Up! demonstrators have gathered together to provide alternate project ideas featuring the Paper Pumpkin kits.  Continue reading to see the projects I made for the hop, find links to the blogs of the other blogs, and learn more about the next kit (July 10th is the last day to subscribe – details at the end of this post).

PPX Blog Hop

Today’s hop features the June 2023 Paper Pumpkin Kit – Welcome Inn.  This kit came with materials to make 9 cards, 3 each of 3 designs.  I used one of each card base to make three different Z-Fold Cards to show off more of the card base patterns.

Alternate Project Ideas

Z-Fold Version 1

To make this first Z-Fold card, I made an extra score line at 2-1/8″ on the long side of the Night of Navy card base (with the colored side facing up).  Next, I folded the card in half (along the original score line) so the colored side is on the inside of the card.  Then I folded back along the extra score line to reveal some of the colored base.

For the front layer of the card, I cut a 5″ x 2″ piece of Countryside Inn Designer Series Paper and adhered it to the left side of a 5-1/4″ x 4″ piece of White cardstock.  Next, I added the blue strip from the kit along the right side of the DSP piece.  Then I punched out a 2″ circle from Night of Navy cardstock and a 1-3/4″ circle from White cardstock.  After I stamped the sentiment on the White circle, I glued the circles together and added them to the card with Dimensionals.  Then I added 5 of the kit embellishments around the sentiment piece.

To add this whole layer piece to the card, I ran some Tear and Tape along the front flap of the card (making sure not to get too close to the edges) and pressed the layer onto it.

For the inside, I stamped a flower in the bottom corner of a 5-1/4″ x 4″ piece of White cardstock.  Then, I added this piece to the inside.

Z-Fold Version 2

For this version, I used the blue pattern card base.  It is scored and folded in the same way as the first card.

The front layer is made just like the kit card but adhered to the card a little differently.  I added the Calypso Coral piece to the front flap so the right half hangs off the edge (so no adhesive shows on that right half).  Then the octagonal layer is added on top with Dimensionals (again, so no adhesive shows on the right side).

For the inside, I stamped a flower on another octagonal layer (the same size as the front one) and adhered it inside the card.

Z-Fold Version 3

For this version, I used the coral pattern card base.  It is scored and folded in the same way as the first card.

The front layer is made just like the kit card but adhered to the card a little differently.  I added the octagonal layer to the front flap so the right half hangs off the edge (so no adhesive shows on the right side).

For the inside, I stamped a sentiment on a smaller octagonal layer and adhered it to a pop-up mechanism inside the card.  I was inspired by Susan Campfield’s Double Decker Pop Out Card for the mechanism.
