PPX Blog Hop

Today’s hop features the March 2024 Paper Pumpkin Kit – Memorable Meadows.  This kit came with materials to make 9 cards plus a bonus stamp set to coordinate.  I used both stamp sets in the kit to make a couple of cards featuring the Spotlighting Technique.

Alternate Project Idea

Spotlighting Technique

The Spotlighting Technique is done when you highlight one section of your stamped layer with some added color.

For my cards, I stamped the sentiment in the lower left corner of a 5″ x 3-3/4″ piece of White cardstock with Memento Black ink. Then I stamped the large floral image (from the bonus set) a few times around the top area of the layer.

Using the 2″ Circle Punch, I lined up the top of my stamped layer all the way into the punch so that the same amount of cardstock was peeking out from both sides and punched out a circle.

The punched-out circle is the only part that got colored. Next, I punched out another circle from Black cardstock using the 2-3/8″ Circle Punch. Then I glued the stamped circle on top of the black circle.

To form the rest of the card, I used a standard card base (11″ x 4-1/4″ scored at 5-1/2″ on the long side) in a color to match the flower color. I adhered the stamped layer (with the hole in it) to a 5-1/8″ x 3-7/8″ piece of Black cardstock. Then added it to the card front.

For the layered circle piece, I popped some Dimensionals on the back and then added it over the “hole” on the card, making sure it lined up with the rest of the stamped images. Then I added a few sequins from the kit materials.

On another 5″ x 3-3/4″ piece of White cardstock, I stamped the small flower on the bottom right corner and colored it in. Then I added this piece to the inside of the card.

Card #1

For this card, I used Highland Heather for the card base. I colored the flowers using the Highland Heather, Granny Apple Green, and Daffodil Delight Stampin’ Blends. The Color Lifter also came in handy to lighten up the tips of the petals.

Card #2

For the next card, I used Flirty Flamingo for the card base. I colored the flowers using the Flirty Flamingo, Granny Apple Green, and Daffodil Delight Stampin’ Blends. The Color Lifter also came in handy to lighten up the tips of the petals.
