Color of the Week – Blueberry Bushel

Jul 4, 2018 | Color of the Week, Colors

Happy 4th of July!  Today’s color of the week – Blueberry Bushel – is perfect for today.  It is the perfect blue for patriotic cards and decor (and now I’m wondering why I didn’t make today’s card a patriotic one).  This is Week 5 of my Color of the Week series and the final 2018-2020 In Color (see all the other colors here).  Next week I will start going through the rest of the colors randomly.

Make sure to follow along here on the blog or on my Instagram and Facebook pages.  I will be using the hashtag #makewithcolor throughout the year when I share color projects and combinations and ask that you join in too!  All you have to do is tag me (@mackenziemakes) and use the #makewithcolor hashtag so I can see what you are sharing. I’m so excited to bring you color inspiration all year long!

COLOR COMPARISON

Blueberry Bushel is a bold blue color that is a little darker than Pacific Point but not as dark as Night of Navy.

CARD INSPIRATION

I just love the little fireflies on this card and the color Pineapple Punch works so well with Blueberry Bushel.  Keep reading for the instructions for making this week’s card.

For the card base, use an 11″ x 4-1/4″ piece of Blueberry Bushel cardstock and score and fold at 5-1/2″ on the long side.  Cut another piece of Blueberry Bushel cardstock to 5-1/4″ x 4″ and run through the Big Shot with the Hexagons Dynamic Textured Impressions Embossing Folder.  Adhere this piece to the card base with Dimensional.

On a piece of Whisper White cardstock, stamp the large jar and a few fireflies (from the Jar of Love stamp set) with Black Memento ink.  Stamp the small circle with Pineapple Punch ink over the tails of the fireflies.  Die cut the jar using the matching framelit die in the Everyday Jars Framelits Dies set.  Loop about 24″ of Silver Metallic Thread around your fingers and adhere to the back of the jar piece so the thread is peeking out from the top left.  Adhere the jar to the card with Dimensionals.

On a scrap of Whisper White cardstock, stamp the sentiment with Blueberry Bushel ink and punch out with the Classic Label Punch so the words are towards the right edge.  Trim off the left side of the punched piece and add to the card towards the top left corner with Mini Dimensionals.

On a 5-1/4″ x 4″ piece of Whisper White cardstock, stamp a few fireflies like before in opposite corners.  Adhere this piece to the inside of the card.
