Color of the Week – Grapefruit Grove

Jun 13, 2018 | Color of the Week, Colors

Welcome to Week 2 of my Color of the Week series!  This week we are looking at Grapefruit Grove, part of the 2018-2020 In Colors.  In case you missed last week’s post (see it here), let me fill you in about this new blog series I am doing.  With the Color Revamp, we now have 53 great colors to create with, so I will be featuring a color every Wednesday of this catalog year.  I am starting this series with the new In Colors before getting into all the other colors.  You will be able to see all of the Color of the Week posts here as they are added throughout the year.

Make sure to follow along here on the blog or on my Instagram and Facebook pages.  I will be using the hashtag #makewithcolor throughout the year when I share color projects and combinations and ask that you join in too!  All you have to do is tag me (@mackenziemakes) and use the #makewithcolor hashtag so I can see what you are sharing.  I’m so excited to bring you color inspiration all year long!

Card Inspiration

This card uses a piece of Designer Series Paper that really shows off this week’s color.  Keep reading for the instructions on how to make the card.

The card base is made from an 11″ x 4-1/4″ piece of Grapefruit Grove cardstock, scored and folded at 5-1/2″ on the long side.  Cut a 5-1/8″ x 3-7/8″ piece from the Grapefruit Grove floral pattern in the Share What You Love Specialty Designer Series Paper.  Use the corner rounder from the Detailed Trio Punch on the upper left corner.  Layer this piece on a 5-1/4″ x 4″ piece of Basic Black cardstock (also with the upper left corner rounded).  Attach these layers to the card base.  Stamp the sentiment on a scrap of Very Vanilla cardstock with Tuxedo Black Memento Ink Pad and punch out with the Pretty Label Punch.  Add to the card with Dimensionals.

For the inside of the card, cut a 5-1/4″ x 4″ piece of Very Vanilla cardstock.  Use the corner detail design and the corner rounder from the Detailed Trio Punch on the upper left corner.  Adhere this layer inside.
