Color of the Week – Highland Heather

Jul 11, 2018 | Color of the Week, Colors

Welcome to Week 6 of my Color of the Week series!  This week’s color is Highland Heather.  It is one of our new colors from the recent Color Revamp and is found in the Subtles Color Family.  If you want to see all the color posts I will be sharing throughout the year, head over to this section of the blog.  It already contains the 2018-2020 In Colors and will hold all the other colors as I add to it each week.

Make sure to follow along here on the blog or on my Instagram and Facebook pages.  I will be using the hashtag #makewithcolor throughout the year when I share color projects and combinations and ask that you join in too!  All you have to do is tag me (@mackenziemakes) and use the #makewithcolor hashtag so I can see what you are sharing. I’m so excited to bring you color inspiration all year long!

CARD INSPIRATION

The soft colors on this card really allow the images to stand out.  Below are the instructions for making this week’s card.

For the card base, score and fold an 8-1/2″ x 5-1/2″ piece of Highland Heather cardstock at 4-1/4″ on the long side.  On a 4-1/4″ x 3-1/2″ piece of Whisper White cardstock, stamp the lady towards the bottom left and the sentiment in the upper right corner with Black Memento ink.  Using the Stampin’ Blends alcohol markers, color the dress with the Light and Dark Highland Heather, the umbrella with the Light and Dark Flirty Flamingo, the skin with Ivory, the hair with Dark Crumb Cake, and the water puddle with Light Pool Party.  Lighten up any areas as desired with the Color Lifter.  Cut a Pearlized Doily in half and adhere to the back of the stamped piece so it is poking out from the right side.  Attach this layered piece to the card base with Dimensionals about a 1/4″ from the left side.
