Jul 25, 2018 | Color of the Week, Colors

Welcome to Week #8 of my Color of the Week series!  This week’s color is Old Olive, which is now part of the Regals Color Collection. If you want to see all the other color posts I will be sharing throughout the year, head over to this section of the blog.

Make sure to follow along here on the blog or on my Instagram and Facebook pages.  I will be using the hashtag #makewithcolor throughout the year when I share color projects and combinations and ask that you join in too!  All you have to do is tag me (@mackenziemakes) and use the #makewithcolor hashtag so I can see what you are sharing. I’m so excited to bring you color inspiration all year long!

COLOR COMPARISON

Old Olive is a nice green color a bit darker than Pear Pizzazz and Granny Apple Green but not as deep of a color as Garden Green and Shaded Spruce.

CARD INSPIRATION

Our Designer Series Papers (DSP) can be used for more than just the category they fall under.  Here I used the Old Olive and Night of Navy plaid pattern from the Under The Mistletoe DSP (which is found in the Holiday section of the Catalog) and paired it with the Coffee Cafe stamp set.  Below are the instructions for making this fun thank you card.

Use a 5-1/2″ x 8-1/2″ piece of Old Olive cardstock, scored and folded at 4-1/4″ on the long side, for the card base.  Cut the DSP to 5-1/4″ x 4″ and adhere to the card front.  On a piece of Whisper White cardstock (or multiple scraps) stamp the coffee cup outline and the lid in Black Memento ink.  Also, stamp the sentiment in Old Olive ink.  Run the stamped images through the Big Shot with the coordinating dies from the Coffee Cups Framelits Dies.  Use a piece of Old Olive cardstock to diecut a coffee cup sleeve using the textured die.

Adhere the lid and the sleeve to the coffee cup.  Glue the sentiment piece to an oval piece from the Corrugated Elements pack, then add to the sleeve.  Attach the coffee cup to the card using Dimensionals.  Wrap a length of Night of Navy Medium Baker’s Twine around the card front and tie in a bow.

For the inside of the card, add a 5″ x 3-3/4″ piece of Whisper White cardstock for your message.
