When we moved into our new house this past spring, I knew the large fireplace mantel would be the perfect place to hang banners and garlands from. I still have more to do to decorate our fireplace for the fall season, but I’m loving the sunflower garland I made to hang from the mantel.

The Celebrate Sunflowers Bundle was the starting inspiration for this garland. The bundle contains the Celebrate Sunflowers Stamp Set and the Sunflowers Dies. I used yellow and gold colors to make the sunflowers and strung it up with a neutral colored trim. Learn how to make your own below!

Instructions
To begin, determine how many sunflowers you want for your garland. The amount will depend on the length of your garland and how much space between the sunflowers you want. I made 18 sunflowers for a 9-foot long banner (my mantel is 8 feet across).
Stamp the large sunflower from the Celebrate Sunflowers Stamp Set on Crushed Curry Cardstock with the Bumblebee Ink Pad. Then die cut out using the matching die from the Sunflowers Dies. Using the intricate sunflower die, die-cut out the same amount of sunflowers from the Gold Foil Sheets (don’t adhere them together yet).
Punch two small holes (close to each other) at the “top” of the stamped sunflowers. There is no defined “top” of the sunflowers, so just pick a spot where you can punch. I rotated my sunflowers and punched at different areas along each sunflower. See the photo below for an example of where to punch.

String the stamped sunflowers on a length of Braided Linen Trim. Then add the Gold Foil sunflowers using Mini Dimensionals (place a few only in the solid area of the intricate sunflower). You can line up the intricate sunflower over the stamped one, or have them off-center for a different look.

Once all the sunflowers are assembled, hang up your garland and enjoy your new decor piece!

Making banners and garlands for the different seasons and holidays are so much fun! I hope you are inspired to make your own sunflower garland. When you do, let me know as I would love to see what you make!
