Share What You Love Suite + the Stampin’ Blends

May 13, 2018 | Cards

Last week I hosted a free online class in my Get Making Community Facebook group.  The class featured the special limited time Share What You Love Bundles.  One of the things I posted about was using the Stampin’ Blends with the product suite.  Today, I want to share with you the fun coloring technique from that class, plus a card that is part of my new eBook (available to purchase in my shop, or as a free gift when you order from me this month with the Host Code PJUSZ6HC).

Color the Pearlized Doilies

Part of the new Share What You Love Suite are the Pearlized Doilies.  The front side has a beautiful pearl look to it, and the back is plain white.  By using the Stampin’ Blends, you can color either side of the doily.

In the photo below, the top doily is colored with the Dark and Light Rich Razzleberry Stampin’ Blends.  I used those same markers to color the bottom left doily on the pearl side.  You can see that the color is not as rich as when colored on the white side and that it also gives a cool watercolor look to the pearl side (and it stays shiny).  The bottom right doily was colored with a sponge dauber and the Rich Razzleberry ink pad on the white side.  This gives an even softer look of color.  This method will not work on the pearl side, as the ink will rub off.  All three methods provide a great addition of color for your projects.

I pulled out some other colors of the Stampin’ Blends to see how they would work, too.  The photo below shows sections colored with Light and Dark Old Olive, and Light and Dark Daffodil Delight.  It is hard to capture in photos, but the light versions of Old Olive and Daffodil Delight do give a very subtle color to the Pearlized Doilies.

I also used Light and Dark Calypso Coral, and Light and Dark Pumpkin Pie on the doilies.

While not a Stampin’ Blend, I also pulled out my Clear Wink of Stella Glitter Brush to add some extra shimmer to the doilies.  Only half of the white side is covered in the photo below, and it takes the glitter very well.  The pearl side did not work as well.  Most of the glitter wiped right off when I tested it.

Color an Embossed Design

Now on to the card from my eBook.  The full instructions are written up in the eBook, but I wanted to share about the coloring technique.  After running the Very Vanilla layer through the Big Shot with the new Lovely Floral Dynamic Textured Impression Embossing Folder, I colored the raised portions with the Stampin’ Blends.

Light Rich Razzleberry – large flower

Dark Bermuda Bay – medium flowers

Light Old Olive – leaves and stems

Light Daffodil Delight – center of large flower

Light Calypso Coral – tiny circular flowers and small 4-petal flowers

Dark Pink Pirouette – small 5-petal flowers

Once it was all colored, I brushed the Clear Wink of Stella Glitter Brush over all the colored portions.  It is incredibly sparkly now!

I am loving all that can be done with the Stampin’ Blends and so excited that there will be even more colors offered in the upcoming 2018-2019 Annual Catalog.  If you would like to get your own copy of the new catalog, contact me and I will get you one.

Happy Coloring!
