Team Swap Cards – Swap #2

Jun 17, 2019 | Cards

I recently participated in two Team Swaps. The card I made for the first swap can be seen in this post. For the second swap, the cards were to feature at least one of the new 2019-2021 In Colors – Rococo Rose, Terracotta Tile, Pretty Peacock, Seaside Spray, and Purple Posy. Keep reading to see the card I made and learn how to make it.

To make the card base, cut a sheet of Thick Whisper White cardstock to 5-1/2″ x 8-1/2″ and score at 4-1/4″ on the long side. Cut a piece of regular Whisper White cardstock to 5″ x 3-3/4″ to be used under the color strips. For the new In Color strips, cut a 1″ x 3-3/4″ strip from each of the five colors.

On the front of the Whisper White piece add some Snail adhesive all around the edges and a little in the center. Line up the first color strip with the top edge, then add the next strips flush against the previous one. The order I used starting at the top is Terracotta Tile, Rococo Rose, Purple Posy, Seaside Spray, and Pretty Peacock.

Once all five strips are adhered down, use the Embossing Buddy to rub all over the piece (this will help the Embossing Powder to only stick to the stamped area). Then stamp the large magnolia image from the Good Morning Magnolia stamp set over the strips with Versamark ink. Pour Clear Embossing Powder over the image and tip excess powder off (I do this process over a paper plate to easily pour the excess powder back in the container). Heat set the Embossing Powder using the Heat Tool. You will know it is set when it goes from a powdery look to being shiny.

Add the stamped color strip piece to the card base. On a 3/4″ strip of Whisper White cardstock, stamp the sentiment with Memento Black ink. Banner cut the right side with the Triple Banner Punch. Add this piece to the upper left side of the color strips piece using Dimensionals.

This swap was to feature at least one of the new In Colors, so I chose to use all five because they make a beautiful gradient type look. It was fun putting together a bunch of these cards for the other team members who also participated in the swaps (you can see the first swap card I made in this post).

Happy making!
